Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour Reunite Amid Bullying Accusations
by Jason P. Frank · VULTUREWho is like Papa? Stranger Things stars David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown, who play the lovable adoptive father-daughter pair Hopper and Eleven, reunited on the red carpet on Thursday for the premiere of the show’s fifth and final season. The two smiled and posed as professionals, despite recent reports claiming Brown accused Harbour of bullying and harassment on set. Though neither addressed the rumors, the Duffer brothers defended their cast’s relationships. “Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for ten years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them,” Stranger Things co-creator Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter on the carpet. “So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
MBB’s old foe, the Daily Mail, reported on November 4 that she filed a bullying complaint against Harbour ahead of production on the fifth season. “There were pages and pages of accusations,” the Mail’s source said. “The investigation went on for months.” Director Shawn Levy cast doubt on the reports, however. “I’ve read a bunch of stories, and they range from wildly inaccurate to … there’s so much noise around it,” he said at the premiere. “But the truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, and so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been the bedrock.” A toxic family? Stranger things have happened.
