Ben Affleck Finally Met His Mormon Wives Cousin Jennifer Affleck

by · VULTURE

Let’s face it: Ben Affleck is just a Jennifer magnet. He can’t help it at this point; he attracts them like a Bostonian to a Dunkin’ Donuts— ironically, the coffee shop is exactly how Ben met his long-lost, not-so-cousin Jennifer Affleck from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Below, here’s how the whole Mormon Wives cousin rumor got started, from how Jen repeated the rumor allegedly shared by her husband’s family to the family reunion between the Afflecks (not related.)

Fun fact

September 6, 2024: Jennifer told People that she has never met her “distant” family member; her husband, Zac, is the first cousin once removed to Ben and Casey Affleck (his father is their first cousin). “Zac’s dad has [met them], when [Ben] was very little,” she explains. “I’m hoping to meet him one day, too!” She isn’t shy about her not-so-close affiliation to the family, especially her soon-to-be ex cousin-in-law-in-law Jennifer Lopez. She was calling herself the “new Jenny from the block” in an Instagram video. Jennifer Lynn told People about the coincidence and how she was named after JLO, “Especially because my name happens to be not only Jen but Jennifer Lynn Affleck, which is the exact same as J.Lo. She went from Jennifer Lynn Lopez to Jennifer Lynn Affleck, which is so crazy.” If she wants to full embrace her name, maybe she can start writing her own greatest love story never told.

A fire starts at the Heart Factory

September 17, 2024: Jennifer and Zac’s claims that they are related to Ben and Casey Affleck might be distant from the truth. Based on what they shared, Zac’s grandfather Gordon Affleck and Ben and Casey’s father, Timothy Byers Affleck, are supposed to be brothers, but according to Family Search, neither family crosses each other’s family tree. It might just be the Greatest Love Story That Started With a Little Fib.

Family reunion

September 15, 2025: Almost one year from the premiere of the first season of Mormon Wives, Jen has finally met her cousin Ben — no, really, they’re in a Dunkin commercial together. And like family who haven’t met each other (like ever), she starts roasting Ben like coffee beans, calling her the better value of the two with “twice the personality for half the price.” She tells Ben he looks like a “weathered 53” and points out his gray hair before the camera turns to the Massachusetts-raised actor, who calls her comments “rude.” While they were not in the same scene together, they did meet on set for the first time. Jen shared with US Weekly that Ben’s daughter is a “huge fan” and happily claims her as family.
