Steven Spielberg EGOTs at the 2026 Grammy Awards
by Bethy Squires · VULTUREEGOT, phone home. At the 2026 Grammy Awards, Steven Spielberg completed the awards quad-fecta coined by Philip Michael Thomas and made popular by 30 Rock. By winning Best Music Film for producing Music by John Williams, Spielberg has now won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.
Technically, Spielberg is an EEEEGOOOT: Spielberg has four Emmys (The Pacific, Band of Brothers, Steven Spielberg Presents: A Pinky & The Brain Christmas, and Steven Spielberg Presents Taken), one Grammy (the aforementioned Music by John Williams), three Oscars (two for Schindler’s List, one for Saving Private Ryan), and one Tony (A Strange Loop). And that’s not counting all the Hugos, a César, an AARP Movies for Grownups award for producing Hamnet, or countless Thea awards for Universal Studios Orlando. The Theas are for theme parks, btw.
Music by John Williams, directed by Laurent Bouzereau, is a biographical documentary about (obviously) John Williams. Spielberg has collaborated with Williams on the scores for films like Indiana Jones and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Spielberg did not accept his Grammy in person during the Premiere Ceremony. He did send in a statement, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter: “This acknowledgment is obviously deeply meaningful to me because it validates what I have known for over 50 years: John Williams’ influence on culture and music is immeasurable and his artistry and legacy is unrivaled,” he said. “I am proud to be associated with Laurent’s beautiful film.”
