Connor Storrie and Weyes Blood Helped Olivia Rodgrio Debut a Song on SNL

Olivia Rodgrigo was busy last night. Besides dusting off her Bizaardvark-honed sketch comedy skills on Saturday Night Live, she debuted a new song from her upcoming album You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love. Heated Rivalry’s Connor Storrie (probs in town for the Met Gala) introduced double-duty host and musical guest Rodrigo singing “begged.” The track features Weyes Blood, and was previously performed for a teensy-weensy audience at The Echo in Los Angeles. None other than Debbie Harry introduced Rodrigo’s performance of YSPSFAGSIL’s lead single, “Drop Dead.”

“begged” is about a couple who are misaligned in how much they want to go out, many such cases. “What a shame, you’re not here/Here to witness my devotion/And my endless well of needs/I’m an anchor in the ocean.” Rodrigo has said that, besides autobiography, a few of the songs on this new album are inspired by Miranda and Steve on Sex and the City. Could “begged” be one of them? If so, this is definitely from Steve’s perspective.
