Ariana Grande and Cher Come Together for SNL Christmas
by Jason P. Frank · VULTUREAriana Grande, the pop star of a million impressions, must have a Cher impersonation in her back pocket. Grande will grace Saturday Night Live for the third time on December 20, where she’ll be joined by musical guest Cher as a gift to all. Grande, who stars in Wicked: For Good, out November 21, killed it last time she hosted in 2024. Not only did she do well in sketches like “Charades With Mom,” but she also introduced the world to the never-ending “Domingo” franchise. While Cher doesn’t appear to have a 2025 project to promote, it is the Yuletide show, and in 2023, she released an album simply called Christmas. Get ready for “DJ Play a Christmas Song.”
Before that, Melissa McCarthy will host for the sixth time on December 6 — her first time returning as host in eight years, though she cameoed as Sean Spicer in between. She’ll be joined by the R&B trailblazer Dijon, a first-time musical guest. Then, Wake Up Dead Man star Josh O’Connor will make his hosting debut on December 13, joined by Lily Allen as musical guest. Allen last appeared on SNL nearly two decades ago, in 2007, and now the songwriter is back to throw a wrench in Netflix’s Stranger Things rollout with songs from her album West End Girl. She’s gonna make 30 Rock her “Pussy Palace.”
