Saoirse Ronan is set to appear on The Late Late Show tonight, sitting down with host Patrick Kielty.

The appearance comes after she and Jack Lowden made their first red carpet-appearance as a married couple at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday.

The Oscar nominee, 30, is expected to tell RTE viewers about her new film The Outrun, based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by Amy Liptrot. Saoirse is set to share what drew her to this story of addiction and recovery and why she can now add ‘lambing’ to her list of special skills.

Saoirse is one of Ireland’s most celebrated actors, having clocked up four Oscar nominations since she was 13 years old. In 2008, she got the nod for Best Supporting Actress in Atonement and was nominated for Best Actress in 2015 for Brooklyn, 2017 for Lady Bird and 2019 for Little Women.

Other guests on the show tonight include Bundee Aki, Rylan Clarke and Snow Patrol.

Ahead of her appearance, here's a look inside her private life.

'Secret' wedding

Saoirse Ronan recently tied the knot with her actor partner in a low-key ceremony in Scotland. The Carlow actress married Scottish actor Jack Lowden in July of this year. It was a very low-key affair with only a “handful” of guests in attendance. The register of Scottish civil marriages records that Saoirse married Jack at the Central Registar’s Office in Edinburgh.

Saoirse doesn’t often speak about her personal life. The Lady Bird star was first romantically linked to Jack in 2018 when they were filming Mary Queen of Scots. She played lead role Mary while Jack played Darnley, her second husband.

Rumours swirled that the couple had gotten engaged last year when Jack posted a photo of a hand, which appeared to be Saoirse’s wearing a diamond ring.

Jack met Saoirse in 2018, two years after landing his big break in the BBC’s War and Peace. He previously spoke about his “remarkable” experience of working with Saoirse.

The actor told iNews at the time: “The woman is a force of nature, on- and off-screen, and utterly fearless and a brilliant leader as well. My first love is actors, and when you’re given a Ferrari like her, it’s all about how you make everything good for the Ferrari to show off. Don’t make a Ferrari do what a Renault Clio does. It’s a dreadful analogy, but they’re like gold dust, good actors.”

Saoirse responded to Jack’s comments in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. She said: “When a person you respect as much as I do him says that, it means more than anyone else’s opinion.”

When asked if it was better than winning an Academy Award, Saoirse jokingly added: “Well, I mean, an Oscar would also help.”

Fair City dad and close bond with mum

Saoirse Ronan's dad Paul Ronan joined the cast of Fair City in 2018, playing Anto Collins on the hit RTÉ series. Not only has he made a name for himself with appearances in The Clinic, Love/Hate, The Tudors and Striking Out, he's also the proud dad to none other than Saoirse Ronan.

Paul was the one who introduced young Saoirse to the acting world, bringing her along to sets like The Devil's Own and Veronica Guerin. They even shared the screen in The Clinic. Saoirse has never been shy about praising the tight-knit relationship she shares with her father, often talking about how "lucky" she is to have such supportive parents.

Paul, for his part, is always ready to sing praises for Saoirse's impressive string of accomplishments in the acting world. Paul has been blissfully married to Monica Brennan since 1992, and together they've navigated life with their beloved daughter, Saoirse. The couple's bond has been rock-solid since the 1980s, reports RSVP Live.

Monica has played an indispensable part in Saoirse's burgeoning career, especially in her early years, by being her chaperone on set. Throughout all the accolades and acclaim that Saoirse has garnered, her parents have been steadfast in their support, with Saoirse sharing an exceptionally close bond with her mother.

Saoirse opened up about her roots in a candid interview with The Mirror, saying: "My mam and dad left school at 15 or 16 and have been working ever since. My mam was a cleaner and a nanny and my dad worked in a bar and then was an actor, with a proper job for years. We weren't poor but we didn't have money. So, I knew the value of money from an early age. I knew that whatever we had, it was because of sacrifices made by them. So, I think that's given me a great appreciation for money."

The father-daughter pair are no strangers to The Late Late Show having shared the screen for a December 2010 interview, chatting about Saoirse's route into acting and reminisced about their time on RTE's The Clinic together. Her dad Paul gushed to then-host Ryan Tubridy: "From the age of two I spotted something in her. She was an amazing kid, very friendly and sociable. More so than any kid I have seen. Eventually, when she was seven or eight, I put her in a short film I was doing. They needed a kid and I said 'I have got one'. In the scene [in The Clinic], she was nearly knocked down by a car. I knew the stunt guys but we were still nervous so they put me driving the car. I was glad to be around when she was filming her first scene, it was a big honour."

Net Worth and incredible homes

Saoirse Ronan reportedly has a net worth of $9 million (€8,077,905), according to Celebrity Net Worth.

The actress also owns a €650,000 cottage in west Cork, and previously sold her home in Greystones for €1.66m in 2019.
