Maura Higgins 'in a bad way' and 'really struggling' after Danny Jones kiss backlash

Co. Longford beauty, Maura Higgins, is reportedly going through a tough time and "in a bad way...and really struggling" as friends rally around her following her controversial smooch with Danny Jones. The celeb has jetted off to Los Angeles for a photoshoot amidst the uproar of her embrace with the married McFly singer.

Her mates have described recent days as "horrendous" due to her being bombarded with "horrific" online abuse. .

A pal confided: "Maura is a tough character but the reaction to events of the last week has been utterly relentless, and it's fair to say it's taken its toll. She has found all of this very difficult to navigate. She appreciates she's in the public eye and there is extra interest around her, but the abuse is off the charts, and people need to calm down."

Spotted at Los Angeles International Airport looking less than cheerful last week, Maura is in town for a professional photoshoot. The friend shared: "She is trying to treat things as business as usual, but it's hard."

The negative backlash began after footage surfaced of Danny, 38, and Maura, 34, engaging in a brief alcohol-fuelled peck on the lips during a BRIT Awards afterparty at about 3am. They were seen exiting the London event together shortly thereafter, both beaming, reports the Mirror.

Further controversy arose when a second clip popped up showing the pair together once more, this time at another afterparty hosted at the Nobu Hotel in Marylebone.

An onlooker dished out the details about Danny and Maura's wild night, sharing, "Danny and Maura seemed to be enjoying their night of partying. They were knocking back wine at the Nobu from 4am and seemed keen to carry on. They weren't seen leaving before 6am."

It seems like wife Georgia, 38, got the rough end of the stick, with an insider spilling to the Mirror just last week that Danny's antics were a real "slap in the face" for the former Miss England. The source lamented, "She has been an incredible partner so this feels very unfair."

Married since 2014 and parents to a seven year old boy, it looks like Danny is now in the midst of crisis talks with his wife, attempting to mend their marriage, according to someone close to the McFly star's circle.

The informant revealed, "Maura is getting a lot of the backlash, and Danny seems to be getting away with his actions."

Taking off to the USA, Maura flaunted an airplane view snap on her Instagram story captioned "Exciting shoot" along with a plane emoticon. Her and Danny crossed paths on ITV1's 'I'm A Celebrity' just this past November.

Casting his mind back to the words he penned in the band’s 2012 memoir ‘McFly - Unsaid Things... Our Story,’ Danny declared, "Georgia's amazing for me. The old Danny, the kid in the sweetie shop every time pretty girls were around, is gone. I don't want anybody else but her."
