Maura Higgins says she was 'stupid' to kiss Danny Jones as she confides in pals

Irish reality TV star Maura Higgins has confided in friends following her highly-publicised kiss with Danny Jones at an awards show afterparty last week, admitting she was "stupid" to engage in the display of affection with the McFly star.

Co Longford beauty Maura, 34, was spotted locking lips with former I'm a Celeb campmate Danny Jones after the Brits last week and video footage was shared online. The Mirror reports that Maura has since flown to Los Angeles for a photoshoot, while neither she nor Danny has publicly commented on the kiss.

Danny's wife Georgia has also remained silent amid major public backlash about the boozy peck that took place at a bash on March 1.

A source close to Maura told Closer magazine that: "Maura has hit rock bottom as she blames herself for truly messing her everything up. She's told pals she deeply regrets that moment and it was stupid, but there is truly nothing whatsoever going on between her and Danny.

"She's gutted that she's now being spoken of as a marriage wrecker."

Maura's social media updates have focused exclusively on her trip to LA, though it has been reported in recent days that the former Love Islander is "in a bad way" due to the fallout from the kiss.

The source continued: "Maura knows Danny loves his wife and to think anything else is absurd."

Maura is said to be "really struggling" while Danny's wife Georgia is also reportedly upset over what happened and even cancelled a planned public appearance at the weekend when she had been due to front a live podcast.

Former Miss England Georgia, who shares a seven-year-old son with Danny, is reported to have considered the kiss a "slap in the face".

Maura recently split from Pete Wicks after an on-off relationship that lasted some time.
