RTE 2FM announces new daytime and weekend schedule, including return of Doireann Garrihy
by Darragh Murphy · Irish MirrorRTE's 2FM has announced its new daytime and weekend schedule, unveiling an exciting shake-up coming to our airwaves next month.
The radio station revealed that an all-new breakfast show will be presented by Carl Mullan, Roz Purcell and Aisling Bonner, before popular presenter Laura Fox takes over from 9am and Tracy Clifford will bring the tunes from midday.
2FM also announced the return of former breakfast show host Doireann Garrihy, who will make her comeback a little later in the day as she will take listeners home when the afternoon turns to evening from 3pm to 6pm.
New voices coming to 2FM's weekend schedule include presenters Benny Bracken, Helen Galgey, Mikey O'Reilly and from the Cork studios, Demi Isaac. This new crop of talent was recruited from an expressions of interest competition which ran across the station in recent months.
Head of RTE 2FM, Dan Healy said: "I'm really excited to launch our daytime schedule with new and familiar voices on 2FM as we welcome back Doireann to present our new Drivetime show and look forward to Carl, Roz, and Aisling as our new breakfast hosts.
"Designed for today’s audience, the new schedule will have an emphasis on Irish and new music, inclusivity and original entertainment. Whether you’re starting the day, on your commute, or unwinding over the weekend, 2FM will have something fresh and exciting waiting for you.
"RTE 2FM has a proud history of identifying and nurturing incredible talent, with many of our presenters going on to have hugely successful careers in broadcasting. The weekend line-up is a continuation of that tradition, showcasing new voices that truly reflect the vibrancy and diversity of our audience."
The new daytime and weekend schedules will launch in February.
