Alpha Movie Live Updates: Our verdict
The Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta awarded Alpha 1.5 out of 5 stars, calling it a disappointing addition to the YRF Spy Universe. In her review, she wrote that despite its star-studded cast and ambitious scale, the film fails to meet expectations due to its weak screenplay, predictable narrative and lack of emotional depth. Describing it as a dull and lifeless spy thriller, Shubhra Gupta noted that while Alia Bhatt and Sharvari deliver sincere performances and Hrithik Roshan's appearance provides a brief spark, their efforts are not enough to save the film from its uninspired execution and uneven storytelling.

Alpha Box Office Collection Day 1 Live Update: 'All eyes are now on the Saturday and Sunday trend'
Trade Analyst Sumit Kadel shared via X, "#alpha has taken an extremely poor opening of around Rs 8.50 Cr nett in India. Considering its massive budget, the Spy Universe franchise, a wide release across 2,700 screens and an A-list star cast, the film should have opened at a minimum of Rs 15 Cr nett. Even this opening doesn’t look entirely organic. All eyes are now on the Saturday and Sunday trend, which will determine whether the film can post some face saving numbers over the weekend. #aliabhatt #sharvari."

Alpha Movie Live Update: 'Dialogue delivery sounds overly dramatic' in Alia's film
X user @BURN4DESIRE1 took to X to shared, "#alpha In my opinion, Alia Bhatt's acting feels surprisingly weak here. The dialogue delivery sounds overly dramatic and reminded me of the old-school Bollywood style where emotional lines were exaggerated instead of feeling natural. Rather than making the scene impactful, it took me out of the moment. The expressions, the screen presence, and the intensity just didn't work for me. This doesn't look like the level of performance I'd expect from a film that's part of such a big franchise. If the rest of the movie follows the same pattern, I don't see it living up to the hype and it could struggle at the box office. The Spy Universe was once exciting because of its larger-than-life action, strong characters, and memorable moments. But if the writing and performances continue to feel this underwhelming, the franchise risks losing what made audiences love it in the first place. This is just my opinion based on what I've seen, but the makers seriously need to rethink the direction of the Spy Universe."
