The third part picks up the story of Vijay and his family after the events of Drishyam 2, which almost let Vijay off the hook. The story which started in the first film, when Vijay’s wife and daughter accidentally killed a boy, has revolved around Vijay trying to save his family from the consequences. But, it seems like the time is up for the Salgaonkar family as the cops and authorities are convinced that Vijay is hiding something.

What makes Drishyam: The Conclusion particularly significant is that the Hindi franchise is now moving on a different direction from the Malayalam series starring Mohanlal. While the first two Hindi films were remakes of the Malayalam Drishyam films, the new Hindi instalment has its own story. The Hindi franchise will also conclude the series with this chapter, but there have been hints that the Malayalam series will continue.

At the trailer launch, Ajay Devgn said the Hindi film has a “completely different script” and is not a version with minor changes. He explained that while the first two Hindi films were inspired by the Malayalam originals, the third instalment takes an entirely different route. He also revealed that he wanted Mohanlal and filmmaker Jeethu Joseph to watch the film and give their approval.
