Audience Demand Is Driving the Rise of Rubbish Content Online – Ameyaw Debrah
by Stephen Zoure · MyNewsGh.comCelebrity blogger and journalist Ameyaw Debrah says audiences themselves are partly responsible for the growing amount of low-quality content circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms.
Speaking in an interview with Kafui Dei, Ameyaw said creators ultimately respond to what audiences watch, engage with, and demand, creating a cycle in which sensational or questionable content gets more attention than meaningful material.
He said although TikTok has valuable, informative content, audiences often show greater interest in what he described as rubbish than in content with greater social or educational value.
“What is also worrying is that the audiences are so much interested in the rubbish stuff than the good stuff or important ones,” he said.
According to him, audience behaviour directly influences the type of content creators produce because creators seek to satisfy the demand that generates attention and engagement.
“And once the audience want that, that is how the production will go to satisfy them,” he stated.
