The children of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba have paid tribute to their father at his final funeral rites, saying he remains close to them even in death.

Reading a statement at the ceremony held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, December 13, they said that although life has changed since his passing, his presence continues to guide them.

Their words moved many mourners, drawing visible emotion from fans who have followed the musician’s journey for decades.

Thousands gathered for the funeral, which blended grief with celebration of Daddy Lumba’s lasting impact on Ghanaian music.

Fans sang along to his classic songs, while fellow musicians, including Nana Acheampong, performed in his honour.

The burial brought closure to a protracted legal dispute over the release of his body, after an Accra High Court ruling cleared the way for the funeral to take place.

Daddy Lumba is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most influential musicians, whose contribution to highlife music continues to shape the country’s cultural landscape.
