Slim Buster reveals how Geeman became his godfather and taught him to write music

Slim Buster has revealed that his move from dancing into music happened after veteran entertainer Geeman encouraged him to start writing and composing his own songs.

The veteran singer and dancer said he met Geeman after performing as a side attraction at one of his shows.

According to Slim Buster, Geeman approached him after the performance and asked what he planned to do next.

“He said, ‘Bro, come here.’ So, what would you do after this? I said, I don’t know. He said, ‘You have to add music. You have to put some music together.’”

Slim Buster told Geeman that he did not know how to write or compose music, but Geeman offered to teach him.

“And I said, well, I don’t know how to write music. I don’t know how to compose. And he said, I’m going to teach you,” he recalled.

That meeting eventually changed the direction of his career.

Slim Buster said Geeman taught him how to write music and the two became friends.

“That was how we became friends. And then he taught me how to write music. That was it,” he said.

He described Geeman as his godfather and revealed that the veteran entertainer, who is now a pastor in the United States, played an important role in his transition from dance to music.

Slim Buster later went to the UK to study audio engineering after encountering difficulties producing the kind of highlife sound he wanted with the technology available at the time.

He eventually returned to Ghana and established his own studio at Dakuman Junction, where he continued developing his music.
