Family announces burial plans for singer Nanyah

Nanyah, a 26-year-old native of Enugu state, passed away last month after being bitten by a snake at her residence.
The funeral proceedings will begin on Tuesday with a service of songs at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Abule Oshun, Lagos.
A requiem mass and hour of hymns in her honour will follow on February 12.

On February 13, a wake keep will be held at the Nwangene family compound in Enugu. Her final interment is scheduled for February 14 in her hometown, with a thanksgiving service concluding the ceremonies on February 15.
The announcements follow a heartfelt tribute held on Monday by the Amemuso Choir, where friends and family gathered to honour Nanyah through songs and shared memories.
Speaking at the event, her brother remembered Nanyah as a fiercely resilient and exceptional individual.

“She was exceptional in every set. From when she was little, she was always excelling in everything she does. I always say she was innocent and took innocent of this world. Nanyah excelled in everything, including music,” he said.
“She never ever gave up. Even until the day she died, she fought, but this country failed her. She went to two hospitals. It is terrible.”
Though not widely known in the mainstream music industry, Nanyah maintained a devoted following of nearly 40,000 on Instagram. Her musical style spanned classical, jazz, R&B, and soul.
A graduate of the University of Nigeria, Enugu, she served as choir mistress at St. Mulumba’s Catholic Chaplaincy during her university years and was a member of the Amemuso Choir. She also competed on The Voice Nigeria four years ago.

Her recorded work includes the tracks ‘The Quiet After Grief,’ ‘Nigerian National Anthem,’ and ‘World Peace.’
