His family confirmed his passing in a Facebook post on Thursday, sharing that he died peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
They expressed gratitude to his devoted fans while requesting privacy during this difficult time.
“It is with great sadness that we share tonight the loss of our father, Flaco Jimenez. He was surrounded by his loved ones and will be missed immensely,” the post reads.

“Thank you to all of his fans and friends—those who cherished his music. And a big thank you for all of the memories. His legacy will live on through his music and all of his fans. The family requests privacy during this time of sadness and grievance.”
Leonardo ‘Flaco’ Jimenez was born on March 11, 1989, into a musical family. Jimenez, who was of Mexican descent, began performing by the age of 7 and helped popularize Tex-Mex music globally.
He collaborated with artistes like Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and Ry Cooder, and co-founded the Grammy-winning groups Texas Tornados and Los Super Seven.

A six-time Grammy winner, Jiménez received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015 and was honored with the National Medal of Arts for his cultural contributions. Famed for blending traditional Mexican conjunto with rock, country, and blues, he brought the vibrant sounds of the border to global audiences, leaving an indelible mark on music history.
