Mel Gibson, Rosalind Ross split after nine years together

Mel Gibson, the Hollywood actor, and Rosalind Ross, his wife, have ended their relationship after nine years together.

The separation was confirmed in a statement from Gibson’s legal team to Reuters and PEOPLE.

The couple stated their union ended nearly a year ago, but they chose to keep the matter private until now. They described the decision as “a sad one to end this chapter in our lives”.

Moving forward, they emphasised their commitment to co-parenting their 8-year-old son, Lars.

“Although it’s sad to end this chapter in our lives, we are blessed with a beautiful son and will continue to be the best parents possible,” the former couple said in a joint statement on Tuesday.

Gibson, 69, and Ross, 35, began dating in 2014 and share one son, but never formally married.

‘The Passion of the Christ’ actor was previously married to Robyn Moore from 1980 until their divorce in 2011, and they have seven children together. He also has a daughter, now 16, with ex-partner Oksana Grigorieva.

Gibson is an acclaimed actor, director, and producer in Hollywood known for iconic roles in films like the ‘Lethal Weapon’ and ‘Mad Max’ franchises, and for directing Oscar-winning epics such as ‘Braveheart’.

Ross is a screenwriter, director, and former equestrian vaulter.
