Baba Fryo claims 2Baba, Annie’s marriage collapsed because they’re celebrities

Baba Fryo, the ace Nigerian singer, has shared his thoughts on the collapsed marriage between iconic singer 2Baba and actress Annie Macaulay.

The pair, who got married in a lavish ceremony in May 2012, officially parted ways in January 2025, after years of publicised ups and downs.

In a recent interview on the Honest Bunch podcast, Baba Fryo suggested that the former couple failed to properly manage their home.

The singer also linked their split to the fact that both were “deeply entrenched in the entertainment industry”.

Fryo emphasised that in a marriage, a woman should typically serve as a stabilizing force. He, however, argued that this balance becomes difficult when both partners share similar lifestyles.

“2Face and his ex-wife, I would say they did not manage themselves well. They are both entertainers. The only difference is that Annie is an actress while 2Face is a musician,” he said.

“Now let us put it like this, in marriage, when the couple are out, it is the woman’s duty to watch the man. When the man is drinking, the woman will be watching him, and if he is drinking too much, the woman will calm him.

“But if you marry a woman who also drinks, when you are both drunk, who will take the other person home? And when a man begins to see the same things, he would start feeling insecure.”
