‘Bridgerton’ star Jonathan Bailey is People magazine’s 2025 sexiest man alive

Jonathan Bailey, the British actor best known for his role as Lord Anthony in the romance television series ‘Bridgerton’, has been named People magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2025.

The 37-year-old actor was unveiled as this year’s honouree in a feature published on Monday.

The ‘Wicked’ star makes history as the first publicly out gay man to receive the honorary title.

Bailey succeeds American actor and filmmaker John Krasinski, last year’s titleholder.

“It’s an huge honor. Obviously I’m incredibly flattered. And it’s completely absurd,” he said.

“It’s been a secret, so I’m quite excited for some friends and family to find out. I think a lot of my friends will be furious that I haven’t told them. And then they’ll just squeal with delight. They’ve seen me grow up.

“Behind the mask of being identified as a sexy man are other truths that they know and they’ve witnessed. They know the secrets.”

Born on April 25, 1988, Bailey has earned praise for his dramatic, comedic, and musical versatility on stage and screen.

He starred in a number of films, including ‘Fellow Travelers’ and ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’.

Over the years, he has won a Laurence Olivier Award and a Critics’ Choice Television Award, and received a Primetime Emmy nomination.

He was also featured in Time magazine’s Time 100 Next list, which highlights the world’s most influential artists.

Other ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ recipients include ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Patrick Dempsey, ‘Black Panther’ actor Michael B Jordan, singer John Legend, ‘Ant-Man’ star Paul Rudd, Idris Elba, Brad Pitt, and Harrison Ford.
