On Friday, the celebrity chef began her record attempt to cook the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice shortly after 3 pm at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos.

The feat was carried out in a custom-built pot measuring six meters wide, which took a 300-member culinary team two months to make.

For the record, Baci used a recipe that included 4,000kg of rice (200 bags), 500 cartons of tomato paste, and 600kg of onions, while more than 2,000 people were present to cheer and taste the record-breaking jollof.

By 2 am, the jollof was ready. But as required by the Guinness World Records (GWR), the pot had to be weighed after preparation.

When a caterpillar hoisted the massive cauldron, it squeezed on one side, causing the lid to shift and sparking panic in the crowd.

The moment left Baci visibly distressed as she circled the pot, watching anxiously while workers struggled to steady the weighing process.

However, it remains to be seen if the pot was eventually measured.

The event was attended by celebrities and dignitaries, including Funke Akindele, Oba Oniru’s wife, and the Ogun State first lady.

It had earlier been described as a vibrant festival of Nigerian culture, music, and community spirit.
