BTS unveils trailer for documentary film ‘BTS: The Return’

At 8 AM on March 17th KST, the trailer video was uploaded to BTS’ official social media channels. The footage hints at the group’s past, present, and future direction.
The trailer intercuts scenes from their previous world tour, the members’ military discharge moments, and songwriting sessions held in Los Angeles. During the creative process, the members openly discuss their thoughts on musical evolution, saying, “Trends keep changing, and we can’t keep doing the same thing,” and “If we want to make a change, now is the time.”
Another moment features the members reflecting on their roots, with the line, “We’re still just country boys from Korea,” emphasizing the group’s starting point and identity. The trailer also includes glimpses of the members’ everyday moments, highlighting how their current experiences are influencing the new music.
Notably, the Korean traditional folk song 'Arirang' is used as background music. Over the melody, narration continues with lines such as “I feel like we’ve returned to where we were meant to be,” hinting at the group’s next chapter. Scenes of the seven members brainstorming ideas together, recording, and filming also appear in the trailer.
BTS: The Return will premiere on Netflix on March 27th. The documentary is directed by Vietnamese American filmmaker Bao Nguyen, known for the Netflix documentary The Greatest Night in Pop, which received nominations at the Grammy Awards and the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
