The film 'Salmokji: Whispering Water' draws audiences deeper into an escalating sense of terror.

Distributor Showbox has unveiled character posters and a new trailer for 'Salmokji' (directed by Lee Sang Min). The newly released images and footage capture tense moments faced by cast members, including Kim Hye Yoon, Lee Jong Won, and Kim Jun Han, along with unpredictable phenomena emerging from the mysterious Salmokji, heightening suspense.

The story follows a seven-member filming crew who encounter horrifying events after entering Salmokji, where unidentifiable figures appear on road-view footage, and a presence lurking beneath dark, deep waters begins to surface. The film marks the first feature-length directorial work by Lee Sang Min, who has built a distinct style within the horror genre through short films such as 'Hamjinabi' and 'Honor Guard.'

The newly released posters capture the crew’s varied expressions as they stare at a stone tower in the darkness, immediately drawing attention. Soo In (played by Kim Hye Yoon), drenched and visibly shaken, appears alongside the phrase, “I only believe what I see with my own eyes,” sparking curiosity about the entity she will confront.

Ki Tae (played by Lee Jong Won) exudes a determined resolve to uncover the mystery of Salmokji, while the pale and eerie expression of Gyo Sik (played by Kim Jun Han), paired with the line “It’s scary alone—I’ll go with you,” adds a chilling layer to the atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Kyung Tae (played by Kim Young Sung), gripping a flashlight in shock, and Kyung Joon (played by Oh Dong Min), frozen as if facing the unimaginable, raise questions about what the crew—who once dismissed the strange rumors—has truly witnessed.

Seong Bin
(played by Yoon Jae Chan), who shows desperate determination to escape, contrasts sharply with Se Jeong (played by Jang Da Ah), whose earlier excitement—“Aren’t we going to see a ghost today?”—gives way to visible shock, further deepening the ominous tone.

The trailer opens with Se Jeong’s eerie line, “Have you seen it? The Salmokji road-view ghost,” instantly setting a chilling mood. As Soo In closes a car trunk, the perspective abruptly shifts to that of a road-view camera, delivering a striking visual impact.

At Salmokji, the crew encounters inexplicable phenomena: a mysterious presence is captured on camera, a bowl with a knife embedded in it falls to the ground, and the reservoir gradually turns blood-red, intensifying the ominous atmosphere. Strange events continue to unfold, including skipping stones that return on their own, Gyo Sik’s erratic behavior, and a hand suddenly emerging from a stone tower, amplifying the horror.

The trailer culminates with an old woman’s voice saying, “If you truly want to leave, you must pray,” as a black hand grips Soo In’s shoulder—further heightening anticipation for the intense fear the film promises.

'Salmokji: Whispering Water' is set to hit theaters on April 8.
