JYP Entertainment confirms stalking incident involving 2PM’s Nichkhun and initiates legal action

Nichkhun, a member of 2PM, reported a recent stalking incident. His agency, JYP Entertainment responded by taking firm legal action.

On March 18, JYP Entertainment released an official statement through its fan platform. The agency stated, “We have recently confirmed stalking behavior that infringes upon the privacy of a 2PM member and threatens his safety.”

According to the agency, the individual followed the artist for an extended period, showed threatening behavior, and repeatedly attempted to approach him. “We consider this a serious matter that poses a significant threat to the artist’s physical and psychological well-being. We have secured relevant evidence and are currently proceeding with legal action,” the statement said.

JYP Entertainment emphasized its zero-tolerance policy. The agency stated, “If similar acts of stalking occur in the future, we will take immediate and additional legal measures without leniency.” The agency also stressed that continuous stalking, tracking, or sharing information about an artist’s movements to the extent that it disrupts daily life is a clear criminal offense. “We place the highest priority on protecting our artists’ rights and ensuring their safety. We will respond firmly without exception to any violations,” it added.

In addition, JYP Entertainment stated that it is continuously collecting evidence of malicious online posts targeting its artists and pursuing legal action. The agency asked fans for active cooperation and reports regarding related matters.

Previously, on March 14, Nichkhun shared details of the incident on his social media account. He stated that while taking a walk near his home, he was followed by an individual claiming to be a fan. “The person followed me for nearly 30 minutes, shouting aggressively in Chinese and using profanity while staying very close to me,” Nichkhun wrote.

He explained that he avoided returning home to prevent revealing his residence and instead walked to a nearby police station to seek help.“I was afraid the person might wait for me and follow me again, so I was escorted home in a police car,” he added.

Nichkhun also warned the individual by stating, “I know who you are, and I will take legal action.” Nichkhun further stated that the individual physically assaulted him and expressed serious concern. “Do not think I will do nothing. This is a serious violation of my privacy and safety,” he said.

JYP Entertainment concluded by reaffirming its position. “We will continue to prioritize the protection of our artists’ rights and safety and will take strong legal action without exception against any acts that infringe upon them.”
