Singer Koo Jun Yup marked the first anniversary of his wife, late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu (Xu Xiyuan), with a deeply emotional tribute, expressing his enduring grief and longing.

On February 2, Koo Jun Yup posted a lengthy handwritten letter on his Instagram, opening with the words, “To my eternal love, my everything, Xiyuan.” In the letter, he shared his daily life after her passing, writing, “How are you there? Is it cold? Is it hot? I worry about you all the time.” He continued, “When I sit absentmindedly on one corner of the bed in the empty room, I still don’t know if this is reality or a dream. I wish it were a dream, and my chest feels heavy and painful.” He added, “When I pack food and drive to Jinbao Mountain, tears flow endlessly from my longing for you.” At the end of the letter, he confessed his aching emotions, saying, “I miss you. I miss you so much. I miss you to death.”

On the same day, an unveiling ceremony was held at Jinbao Mountain Memorial Park in New Taipei City, Taiwan, for a memorial sculpture dedicated to Barbie Hsu. Koo Jun Yup personally designed the sculpture and participated in its production. The piece depicts a young girl with one hand over her chest, evoking a sense of peace and serenity. The ceremony was attended by Koo Jun Yup, Barbie Hsu’s younger sister Dee Hsu, family members, Kang Won Rae of Clon, and singer Choi Siwon, who gathered to pay their respects.

Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2 last year due to complications from acute pneumonia caused by influenza while on a family trip to Japan. Rising to top stardom in Taiwan through the 2001 drama 'Meteor Garden,' she had previously dated Koo Jun Yup in 1998 before the two parted ways. They reunited more than 20 years later and married in 2022, capturing public attention with what many called a real-life fairytale romance.

Following her death, Koo Jun Yup halted all activities and visited her grave daily for a year. During this time, he was seen having lost more than 10 kilograms, drawing concern from fans.

"To my eternal love, my everything, Xiyuan.
Hee Won, how are you there?

How are you there? Is it cold? Is it hot?
I worry about you all the time.

When I sit absentmindedly on one corner of the bed in the empty room, I still don’t know if this is reality or a dream.
I wish it were a dream, and my chest feels heavy and painful

I lift my heavy body and wonder what kind of food I should make today.
What should I make that you would like?
When I pack food and drive to Jinbao Mountain, tears flow endlessly from my longing for you.

I’m sorry for showing you such a weak side of me.
But this is the last way I have to soothe my longing for you.
I hope you understand.

My Xiyuan… Xiyuan…
When we meet again next time, forever… forever, we will be together.

I miss you.
I miss you so much…
I miss you to death.

Your eternal Kwang Tto Oppa…
Jun Jun."
