AOMG's first girl group Keyveatz vows to become "Iconic" at powerful debut showcase
by K-Soul · allkpopAOMG has officially introduced its first-ever girl crew, Keyveatz, marking a new chapter for the hip-hop label. Rather than debuting as a conventional girl group, the members said they hope to establish themselves as a girl crew that creates a new wave in the music industry.
Instead of relying on words, the group chose to let their skills speak for themselves. At their debut media showcase, Keyveatz impressed with explosive live vocals and powerful hip-hop performances that showcased both their stage presence and musical ability.
"We want to become a bridge between subculture and mainstream media by showcasing not only hip-hop but a wide range of musical styles," member Jione said.
Keyveatz held a media showcase for its debut EP 'OXY_GEN' on June 30 at YES24 WonderLOCH Hall in Seoul's Seodaemun District, unveiling the performance of its title track and officially kicking off promotions.
The group had already begun building momentum ahead of its official debut with the pre-release single 'Key Beats' in April. They also appeared at major domestic and international music festivals before making their formal debut.
"During our pre-release promotions, I thought I'd feel less nervous once we officially debuted," Yeseul admitted. "But I actually feel even more nervous now. It makes me want to work even harder."
The EP 'OXY_GEN' combines the words "oxygen" and "generation," symbolizing the members as a new generation constantly moving forward, challenging themselves, and creating their own path.
Built around subculture and underground influences, the five-track project highlights Keyveatz's unpredictable style and movement through hip-hop-based music.
The album features the title track 'OXY,' pre-release songs "Key Beats" and "Catch My Breath," "SUB_ZERO," and the secondary title track "SUCK IT UP."
According to the members, the album reflects their personal stories.
"Our producer listened to our experiences and created the songs based on them," Jione explained. "Because of that, we were able to sing with genuine sincerity."
She added, "This album is more about the journey than the results. It captures the pressure we felt while preparing for our debut, the effort we put in, and our determination to succeed."
The members also actively participated in the creative process. Jione wrote the lyrics for "Key Beats," while the members collectively contributed to the lyrics, composition, and arrangement of "SUCK IT UP." They also helped create the choreography for "SUB_ZERO."
"Going forward, we want to increase the members' involvement so that one day we can release an album fully produced by all of us," Jione said.
Several AOMG artists also supported the group's debut. Producer Lee Baek participated in the title track 'OXY,' while rapper Punchnello featured on 'SUB_ZERO.'
Member Juone expressed her gratitude, saying, "Jay Park produced 'Catch My Breath.' Mijoo gave us overall feedback, and Kian84 even helped plan today's showcase."
The members said they also received continuous feedback throughout their trainee period.
"During our monthly evaluations, our senior artists always told us not to try too hard but to enjoy ourselves," Jione recalled. "I think that's what helped us become the Keyveatz we are today."
Asked whether they felt pressure as AOMG's first girl crew, Yuna responded, "Debuting under a company that represents hip-hop comes with both pressure and responsibility. But I think it's motivating us in a positive way."
Yeseul added, "The senior artists who came before us paved the way, and we've inherited their mindset toward hip-hop. Rather than feeling burdened, we're focused on moving toward the same goal together."
Several members, including Son Juone, Newy, and Um Jione, previously appeared on Mnet's survival audition program 'I-LAND 2.'
"'I-LAND 2' was a huge challenge for me," Newy said. "After the show ended, I heard about this girl crew and came from Japan to Korea. I'm so happy to have met a crew unlike any other."
Jione and Juone added, "The biggest difference is that all three of us have grown into all-rounders. We've become stronger and more mature, and we're working together as one crew."
The showcase also featured the live performance of 'OXY,' a track driven by rapid progression, addictive riser melodies, and a blend of diverse hip-hop sounds that builds toward explosive energy.
The members delivered the performance with minimal backing track, emphasizing their live vocals while confidently executing dynamic choreography.
When asked what sets Keyveatz apart, Newy replied, "We're like a puzzle where no one can replace another member. Each of us has clear strengths, and those strengths come together perfectly."
Yuna added, "A girl crew isn't defined by a concept but by attitude. Our biggest strength is creating an unpredictable identity."
The members also shared their long-term goals.
"I want us to become iconic," Yeseul said. "I hope we can become someone's inspiration. We want our own genre and identity to become unmistakable. And of course, we'd love to win first place on a music show."
Newy concluded, "I've finally achieved the dream I've had for such a long time. We'll never forget why we started, and we'll continue working hard to show everyone our best."
Keyveatz's debut EP 'OXY_GEN' was released on major streaming platforms at 6 PM KST on June 30.
