Song Ji Hyo faces renewed criticism over minimal screen time on ‘Running Man’
by Alec06 · allkpopActress Song Ji Hyo is once again drawing attention over her limited screen time on SBS’s ‘Running Man.’
In the March 22 broadcast, the members transformed into detectives as actor Park Shin Yang appeared as a client, presenting a special mission. Set in an art museum featuring around 150 works, the members were tasked with finding a single authentic painting hidden among forgeries, using clues embedded within the artworks.
However, Song Ji Hyo’s presence in the episode remained minimal. She spoke for the first time nearly 10 minutes into the broadcast, and aside from brief moments during a food segment, she had little notable screen time.
The issue of her limited screen time has continued for the past two weeks. In previous instances, the production team appeared to make efforts to increase her presence, but this time, viewers have noted a lack of visible attempts to highlight her role in the episode.
During a drawing relay game, Song Ji Hyo asked for the question to be shown again. Kim Jong Kook responded, “Didn’t you see it?” while Ji Suk Jin added, “We showed it just three seconds ago,” with Haha also commenting, “That doesn’t make sense. We just saw it together.” Whether it was due to a lack of focus or intentional for humor, the moment did not resonate strongly with viewers.
Following Park Shin Yang’s appearance, singers Sung Si Kyung and Lee Chang Sub also joined the show, with their segment continuing into the March 29 episode. Song Ji Hyo again had limited presence, while other cast members generated more screen time through interactions and storylines.
Song Ji Hyo has recently been at the center of discussion regarding her presence on ‘Running Man.’ Despite being part of the show for 17 years, some viewers have raised concerns that her screen time remains minimal, with less than a minute of footage in episodes that run over 90 minutes.
