IU, 4 years into her public romance with Lee Jong Suk, says “if you’re in love, you don’t have to say it”

Singer and actress IU has spoken about her perspective on love, drawing attention as she continues her four-year public relationship with actor Lee Jong Suk.

On April 23, a new video was uploaded to IU’s YouTube channel as part of her series 'Mini Palette,' titled ''Perfect Crown' Project Completion (With ‘Perfect Crown’ Team).' The episode featured guests Byeon Woo Seok, Yoo Subin, and Lee Yeon.

During the discussion, Byeon Woo Seok talked about a challenging scene he filmed with Yoo Subin, explaining that it did not go smoothly despite their growing closeness on set. Yoo Subin added that the scene was filmed later in production, when their relationship had become more comfortable, which made them more eager to perform well but also added pressure.

Byeon agreed, saying that stronger emotions between actors can sometimes make performance more difficult. Lee Yeon jokingly commented that this meant their affection had grown from something small at first. IU then shared her view on love, saying that when people truly love someone, they do not feel the need to constantly talk about it, as love naturally exists at a deeper level.

Byeon Woo Seok responded with a different perspective, saying that expressing emotions is important and people should not hesitate to show how they feel. Yoo Subin playfully said “I love you,” and Byeon replied in kind, emphasizing his belief in verbal expression of affection.

IU and Lee Jong Suk publicly confirmed their relationship in 2022. The two first met in 2012 while working as MCs on SBS’s 'Inkigayo.' At the time of revealing their relationship, Lee Jong Suk described it as the result of a long-standing affection, while IU shared that they had built a relationship based on mutual trust and support over time.

Although rumors of a breakup have surfaced occasionally, they have been consistently dismissed, with the couple continuing their relationship publicly.
