Questions surrounding the issue of dating reality shows as simply "gateways to fame and public exposure" have surfaced once again, in light of 'Single's Inferno 4' star Park Hae Rin's acting debut.

Park Hae Rin, known as a former JYP Entertainment trainee, appeared as the 7th female participant of Netflix's 'Single's Inferno 4', earning the nickname "catfish girl" for her late entry into the program. Following the conclusion of 'Single's Inferno 4', she went on to take on various modeling gigs and advertisements as an influencer, before being cast in the drama 'Boyfriend on Demand' alongside the production's female lead, Jisoo

In the drama, Park Hae Rin appeared as the character Kang Ye Rin, a "rival" love interest in the Seo Eun Ho arc and one of the leaders of the kendo club. Although her screen time was relatively short, Park Hae Rin left a strong impression on viewers with her captivating visuals and charisma.

However, Park Hae Rin's seamless transition from the reality show to acting has once again brought up the issue of "sincerity" when it comes to dating reality shows and their contestants. Many former reality program alums (most notably Dex) have chosen to enter the Korean entertainment industry following their significant "media exposure" on such shows. Now, with Park Hae Rin and several others maneuvering themselves in similar pathways, onlookers are expressing concerns over the "legitimacy" of dating reality shows and their storytelling.

Meanwhile, Park Hae Rin was previously also cast in the Korean-Japanese joint production 'House of Ghosts', set to premiere in the second half of 2026.
