ITZY’s Yuna opens up about pressure ahead of solo debut with ‘Ice Cream’
by Alec06 · allkpopITZY’s Yuna opened up about the pressure she felt ahead of her solo debut.
On March 23 at 2 PM KST, Yuna attended a press showcase held at the Grand Ballroom of Pullman Ambassador Seoul Eastpole in Gwangjin gu, Seoul, celebrating the release of her solo debut album ‘Ice Cream.’ During the event, she shared, “I felt a significant amount of pressure as a solo artist.”
She continued, “Mentally, I tried to stay healthy and positive by writing in my journal every day. While preparing this album, I discovered a more passionate and perfectionist side of myself. I realized I have many different sides. Sometimes I feel confident, but other times I shrink due to worry and pressure. Writing everything down helped me recognize my emotions, and that alone was very comforting.”
Yuna also spoke about her musical inspirations, saying, “I tried to learn from other solo artists by watching their performances and listening to their music. I especially listened to my fellow member Yeji’s ‘Air’ a lot.”
She added, “Just taking on my first solo album required a lot of courage. I want to focus on expressing myself more completely,” hinting at future creative involvement by saying, “If given the opportunity, I would also love to try working on songs myself.”
Yuna, who debuted as a member of ITZY in 2019, becomes the group’s second member to go solo following Yeji. Her solo debut track “Ice Cream” is a bright and addictive bubblegum pop song, delivering the message of enjoying the present moment as it melts sweetly like ice cream.
The album includes the title track “Ice Cream” along with tracks such as “B-Boy,” “Blue Maze,” and “Hyper Dream,” each showcasing different moods and styles.
Yuna will officially release her solo mini album ‘Ice Cream’ on March 23 at 6 PM KST. She will also hold a countdown live at 5 PM KST on the same day to celebrate her solo debut with fans, MIDZY, around the world.
