Kim Do Hoon to Lead Netflix Historical Action Film ‘Dochabi’

Actor Kim Do Hoon may be taking on his first major historical action lead role in Netflix’s upcoming film 'Dochabi.'

On May 15, his agency, Peak J Entertainment, confirmed that the actor is positively reviewing an offer to star in the Netflix movie. Industry reports later stated that Kim Do Hoon has been cast as the film’s lead.

'Dochabi,' whose title refers to a goblin-like creature from Korean folklore, is described as a historical action film blending fantasy elements. The project has already drawn significant attention as the next production from On The Works, the company behind the hit film 'The King and the Clown.'

The movie will be directed by Ahn Tae Jin, known for films including 'The Night Owl' and 'Second Signal.' According to a source, the production team is preparing “a historical action film with a clear theme and strong genre appeal,” similar to the company’s previous successful projects.

Kim Do Hoon has recently emerged as one of Korea’s fastest-rising actors. He gained widespread recognition through the Disney+ original series 'Moving,' where he played class president Kang Hoon and left a strong impression on viewers.

Since then, he has steadily expanded his filmography with dramas such as 'Your Honor,' 'Love Scout,' 'Law and the City,' and 'Dear X,' earning praise for his stable performances across multiple genres and characters.

Beyond acting, Kim has also broadened his popularity through variety shows, including 'The Secret Friends Club' and 'Agents of Mystery,' showcasing a more approachable side off-screen.

The actor is currently filming the upcoming tvN drama 'Retired Agent Management Team,' scheduled for release later this year. News of his potential participation in Netflix’s anticipated 'Dochabi' has further fueled excitement surrounding his growing career trajectory.

With 'Dochabi' expected to combine historical and fantasy elements, anticipation is building over what new side of Kim Do Hoon audiences may see. Having mostly built his reputation through modern-day roles, the project is expected to mark his first full-fledged leading role in a historical action production.

'Dochabi' is currently preparing to begin filming in August.
