Original Busker Busker member Park Kyung Gu passes away at the age of 38
by K-Soul · allkpopPark Kyung Gu, an original member of the band Busker Busker, has passed away.
On February 7, a post was uploaded to Park Kyung Gu’s personal account announcing his passing. The message, written by his cousin Park Sung Hyun on behalf of the family, read: “Hello, this is Park Sung Hyun, cousin of Kyung Gu hyung. It still feels unbelievable, but on behalf of the family, we are sharing this obituary. We would be grateful if you could join us with warm hearts as he takes his final journey.”
The late Park’s funeral was held at a funeral hall in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, with the funeral procession taking place solemnly on the 9th.
Park Kyung Gu was an original member of Busker Busker, the band led by Jang Beom Joon, and played a significant role in establishing the group’s identity. A high school classmate of Jang Beom Joon, Park was known to have been deeply involved in composing and arranging every track on Jang Beom Joon’s first solo album, so much so that it was often described as being close to a “co-produced album.” His credits include songwriting, composition, and arrangement for numerous tracks such as “A Difficult Woman,” “Someone Who Suits the Word Love,” “Sinpung Station Exit 2 Blues,” and “Cherry Blossom Ending.”
Following news of Park Kyung Gu’s death, a message left by Jang Beom Joon in March last year has resurfaced. At the time of releasing his fourth album, Jang Beom June Vol. 4 (The History of a Loser), Jang wrote, “Wishing for Kyung Gu’s good health,” to which Park replied, “I’m healthy.”
In particular, Jang Beom Joon has been sharing his own tribute by uploading a video titled “Park Kyung Gu Best Live Clip” on his YouTube channel, where he performs songs that the late musician contributed to.
Meanwhile, as the exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed, messages of condolence and remembrance continue to pour in on Park Kyung Gu’s account.
