Park Ji Hoon promotes 59th Danjong Cultural Festival amid success of ‘The King’s Warden’
by Alec06 · allkpopPark Ji Hoon, who portrayed King Danjong in the film ‘The King’s Warden,’ has stepped forward to promote the upcoming Danjong Cultural Festival.
On March 4, a video was released through the official channels of the Yeongwol Culture and Tourism Foundation, in which Park Ji Hoon shared his thoughts on playing Danjong. He expressed deep affection for the role, saying, “While portraying Danjong, I wanted to sincerely reflect on the loneliness and pain he must have felt, not only as a king but as a person.”
Recalling his time filming in Yeongwol, he said, “Thanks to the clear natural scenery and the warm people there, I was able to finish filming happily. It was a meaningful time that allowed me to feel and experience history more closely.”
He also announced the upcoming 59th Danjong Cultural Festival, which will be held in Yeongwol from April 24 to 26. “Various programs are prepared where you can experience Danjong’s story up close,” he said, encouraging many people to participate.
In closing, Park Ji Hoon added, “I hope you continue to show warm interest in Yeongwol and in Danjong. I sincerely wish the Danjong Cultural Festival will be a meaningful and joyful time for everyone.”
‘The King’s Warden,’ set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily chooses exile for the revival of his village and a young deposed king exiled from the throne. As of its 27th day in theaters on March 2, the film has surpassed 9 million cumulative viewers, moving closer to the 10 million milestone.
Following the film’s box office success and renewed interest in Danjong, the number of tourists visiting Cheongnyeongpo in Yeongwol has reportedly increased nearly fivefold compared to the same period last year. Director Jang Hang Joon is also adjusting his schedule to visit Yeongwol during the festival and communicate with local residents.
