VIVIZ, Lee Mu Jin, and BE’O notify termination of exclusive contracts with Big Planet Made, agency says “No final decision yet”

Following the recent departures of SHINee’s Taemin and boy group The Boyz, girl group VIVIZ and solo artists Lee Mu jin and BE'O have also moved to terminate their exclusive contracts with their agency.

According to a report by The Fact on March 19, VIVIZ, Lee Mu Jin, and BE’O have formally notified Big Planet Made Entertainment of their intent to terminate their exclusive agreements. The artists cited serious contractual violations and a breakdown of trust as the primary reasons behind their decision. Despite efforts to seek a satisfactory explanation from CEO Cha Ga Won, the artists were ultimately unable to restore confidence in the agency.

Currently, CEO Cha is reportedly unwilling to accept the termination notices. However, industry observers suggest that the likelihood of contract termination being upheld is high, given the apparent failure of Big Planet Made Entertainment to provide even basic support to its artists.

As previously reported by The Fact, the agency is facing complete capital impairment and has been unable to settle payments to its artists since the third quarter of last year. Additionally, tens of billions of won in unpaid fees to partner companies and staff have accumulated, making it virtually impossible to support future album production and artist activities.

Earlier, Taemin of SHINee terminated his contract with the agency and announced a new start under Galaxy Corporation, home to G-Dragon. At the time, Taemin was reportedly able to end his contract without legal dispute due to significant fault on the part of CEO Cha. Subsequently, The Boyz, a boy group under another label led by Cha, One Hundred Label, also notified the agency of contract termination.

With the departures of VIVIZ, Lee Mu Jin, and BE’O, the fragmentation within Cha Ga Won’s entertainment group appears to be accelerating. Such a simultaneous exodus of multiple artists is considered unprecedented in the industry.

In response, Big Planet Made Entertainment stated to The Fact, “No final decision has been made regarding the termination of exclusive contracts with VIVIZ, Lee Mu Jin, and BE’O. The company is doing its utmost to support the artists’ activities as normal.”
