'Pachinko' star Kim Min Ha selected as sole host for the 31st Busan International Film Festival opening ceremony

On July 31, the Busan International Film Festival announced, "Kim Min Ha has been chosen as the host of the opening ceremony for the 31st Busan International Film Festival, which will take place on October 6 at the Busan Cinema Center."
Kim Min Ha made her acting debut in 2016 and gained international recognition through Apple TV+'s 'Pachinko' (2022, 2024). Her performance also earned her the Rising Star Award at the Asian American Awards.
She has since continued to showcase her versatility across various genres, starring in dramas such as 'Light Shop' (2024), 'Way Back Love' (2025), and 'Typhoon Family' (2025), as well as the film 'Hana Korea' (2026).
Explaining its decision, BIFF said, "We selected Kim Min Ha in recognition of her distinctive career and her ability to deeply interpret and faithfully portray the inner worlds of her characters in every project."
The festival added, "Kim Min Ha has captivated audiences with both her sincerity and confidence, and we expect her poised and stable hosting at the opening ceremony to further elevate the prestige of the festival."
The 31st Busan International Film Festival will be held from October 6 to October 15 at the Busan Cinema Center and surrounding venues in Busan.
