tvN drama 'Shin's Project' ends with No. 1 ratings, confirms season 2 in the works

'Shin's Project' follows Shin Jae Yi (played by Han Suk Kyu), a former legendary negotiator who now runs a chicken restaurant while hiding a mysterious secret. Together with strict rookie judge Cho Philip (Bae Hyun Sung) and a Gen Z part-timer, Shin navigates the gray area between bending and upholding the law to resolve various conflicts. The series presents a “conflict-resolution hero story” that tackles real-world social issues and delivers justice in an often frustrating reality.
The show earned praise for its sharp yet witty storytelling and its take on communication breakdowns and social challenges, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
Planned as a 12-episode series, 'Shin's Project' premiered with a solid 5.9% rating and consistently climbed throughout its run. The final episode achieved an average of 8.6% and a peak of 9.9% nationwide (according to Nielsen Korea, paid platform households), finishing on a strong note. It also ranked No. 1 across all cable and general broadcasting channels among tvN’s core 20–49 demographic.
In the finale, Shin Jae Yi finally uncovered the truth behind his son’s death, confronting Lee Heo Jun (Park Hyuk Kwon), the hospital director who tried to conceal the case. Lee was eventually arrested for murder and attempted murder, allowing Shin to deliver long-awaited justice. The series ended with Shin finding peace, surrounded by those who supported him.
Notably, the final episode hinted at a new chapter — Shin leading the creation of a special “Task Force Team” within the court. Actor Kim Dong Jun also made a surprise cameo, bowing deeply to Shin and saying, “Please take care of me, Mr. Shin,” hinting at future developments.
The day after the finale (October 29), the production team told media outlets, “Discussions for 'Shin's Project' Season 2 are currently underway.”
With Han Suk Kyu’s masterful performance and high-quality direction, attention is now focused on whether the series can successfully launch as a multi-season K-drama.
