Red Velvet's Wendy leaves heartfelt message to fans following her exit from SM Entertainment

Red Velvet's Wendy took to the fan communication platform to assure fans and share her affection for the group following her departure from SM Entertainment.

On April 4, Wendy posted a heartfelt message to her fans on Bubble. She wrote, "I wanted to personally message ReVeluvs (Red Velvet's official fandom name), who may have been surprised by today's news."

She continued, "After a long time together, I’ve decided to conclude my exclusive contract with SM Entertainment, who helped shape the person I am today. I’m now preparing for a new challenge in a different environment. I sincerely thank all the staff at SM for allowing me to debut as a member of Red Velvet and meet ReVeluvs. I believe it’s thanks to the support and consideration I received over the years that I’ve come this far. And above all, to ReVeluvs who have always watched over me with warm support and love. Every moment with you has been so precious, and that strength has allowed me to keep moving forward no matter what.”

Wendy also shared her deep affection and love for the group. She emphasized, "More than anything, Red Velvet is and always will be the most precious part of my life. I will continue to promote as Wendy of Red Velvet and will do my best to meet ReVeluvs in new ways as well. I’m being very thoughtful and careful in choosing a company that will actively support and cooperate with my Red Velvet activities, and I promise to continue building special memories with you as a member of Red Velvet.”

Earlier that day, SM Entertainment announced that Wendy and Yeri had ended their exclusive contracts with the company. However, both will continue Red Velvet group activities under SM. Irene, Seulgi, and Joy have renewed their contracts with the agency.
