'Humint' tops Netflix global movie chart within two days of release

The espionage action film 'Humint' has claimed the number 1 spot in the Netflix global movie category (including English-language films), drawing intense interest from audiences worldwide. According to the OTT ranking site FlixPatrol on April 4, 2026 KST, the film entered the top 10 in 78 countries as of the previous day. Notably, it reached the top position in 15 countries, including South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Romania, and Singapore, establishing its status as a major global hit.

Directed by Ryoo Seung Wan, the filmmaker behind 'Smugglers', 'Escape from Mogadishu' and 'Veteran', the movie tells the story of four individuals heading to Vladivostok to uncover clues about a mysterious incident near the North Korea-Russia border. The high-density narrative is driven by the intense performances of a star-studded cast, including Jo In Sung, Park Jeong Min, Park Hae Joon, and Shin Se Kyung. Filmed on location in Latvia, the production has earned widespread acclaim for its overwhelming visuals and diverse action sequences, which range from hand-to-hand combat and gunfights to high-speed car chases.

While 'Humint' is currently enjoying immense international success, it initially recorded modest results during its domestic theatrical release. Its performance was significantly impacted by its debut alongside the unprecedented box office phenomenon of 'The King's Warden', which dominated theater schedules and audience attention at the time. However, the move to Netflix has provided a platform for global re-evaluation, where the film’s sophisticated take on espionage and its deep exploration of character belief have successfully resonated with a worldwide audience.
