Bollywood families are quite famous. From Kapoors to Deols, we have seen the family members following each others paths and venturing into films. These two sisters did the same. However, only one turned out to be successful. We are talking about Dimple Kapadia and Simple Kapadia.
Dimple Kapadia aspired to be an actor since childhood. In 1973, she marked her Bollywood debut with Raj Kapoor's movie Bobby. The film also marked the debut of Rishi Kapoor. Bobby made Dimple Kapadia and Rishi Kapoor overnight stars and fan favourites.
Later, Dimple Kapadia featured in some of the hit films like Rudaali, Aitbaar, Saagar, Krantiveer, and more. She was also a part of critically acclaimed movies like Dil Chahta Hai, Luck By Chance and more.
Simple Kapadia, on the other hand, marked her Bollywood debut with a Rajesh Khanna film. She marked her debut with the film Anurodh in 1977. She was just 18 years old. However, she didn't achieve the similar fame as her sister.
Simple Kapadia featured in a few films and did supporting roles in movies like Lootmaar, Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai, Jeevan Dhaara and more. But the films failed at the box office.
After a few films, Simple Kapadia chose to quit acting. She then changed path and became a costume designer. Simple Kapadia reportedly designed clothes for top stars like Tabu, Sridevi and others.
She even won a National Film Award for Best Costume Design for Rudaali. She also designed costumes for movies like Chachi 420, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, Socha Na Tha and more.
Simple Kapadia died at the age of 51 in 2009. Reportedly, she was battling cancer at the time of her death. Her son Karan Kapadia marked Bollywood debut with the movie Blank.
