Yash is Rocky bhai 2.0 in Toxic teaser; is it time for him to break away from the tag?

Toxic is directed by actress Geetu Mohandas and reportedly stars Kiara Advani and Nayanthara, apart from Yash, in the main lead.

KGF star Yash turned a year old today. And as a return gift to his army of fans, the makers of his upcoming film, Toxic – A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups dropped the first teaser.

Not only did the teaser give a glimpse of the star in a ‘toxic’ avatar, but also left us wondering and asking a lot of questions. Yash continues to carry his KGF look in the film. He wears a semi-formal attire with a cigar and walks with an unmatched swag.

Now, read the first two words of this article again -- "KGF star" has been glaringly defining Yash's journey in cinema for several years now. He spent almost six years on the KGF films, but those films don't have a cult following that he can afford to continue to live with that image forever.

Not long ago in 2016, Yash still was the quintessential romantic hero of Kannada cinema. It was only due to KGF that the world came to know of him as Rocky bhai. The image has since stayed with him.

But this is doing more harm than expected. If carries the persona of Rocky bhai on to his next projects - Toxic and Ramayana, wherein he plays Ravana, he is going to ruin it for everybody. Because Toxic should be different from what KGF was, and Ramayana is indeed different.

So is it time for Yash to break away from Rocky bhai? We think so. For his own movies.
