Bigg Boss 18: How social media strategies of Vivian, Karan, Avinash and others have driven narratives

It's indeed a wonderment how the narratives are being driven outside the Bigg Boss 18 house by the social media machinery of the contestants.

The ongoing season of Bigg Boss is a conundrum, to say the least. The contestant who was declared the channel's 'laadla' at the start was recently called out to have 'no game at all', and the underdogs were declared as the leading characters of the show.

And this is not it.

A tangential game of Bigg Boss is being played outside the four walls of the huge set as well. It's indeed a wonderment how the narratives are being driven outside the house by the social media strategy or PR machinery of the contestants -- which are exactly in line with each other.

Vivian Dsena's team is hellbent to prove he is the righteous guy, a family man and a doting father. And if you find no 'game' in his game, it is because he is dignified enough to not let the 'game' overpower his personality. Vivian is doing pretty much the same inside the house.

His wife Nouran Aly has appeared twice on the show to tutor him on how to play the 'game', and has appeared multiple times on Twitter spaces to teach his fans on how to slay the social media 'game'.

Avinash Mishra's team plays the game according to the Weekend Ka Vaar narratives set by the makers. So when he goes against Karan Veer Mehra, his PR does. And when he tries to copy him after the 'Karan Veer Mehra Show' declaration, it follows suit.

Karan's team is as laid back as him. It's as an underdog as Karan has been on the show. It does its own thing, even when the world is telling it to buck up and be more active -- much like how Karan never ditched Shilpa Shirodkar even when the world asked him to.

Shilpa's team strategy revolves around her two laadlas on the show - Karan and Vivian. And that is that for her as well.

Eisha Singh's team is 'E for evil' like she is. So it replies to mean comments (from fans and ex-contestants alike) as Eisha does on the show.

Chum Darang's team is too focussed on forming connections. So every once in a while, it does collab posts with Vivian, Karan and Digvijay. Chum's game inside the house has primarily revolved around relationships - Chumveer, ShruChum and Chum-Digvijay. Having said that, one cannot take the task slaying prowess that she possesses.

Rajat Dalal's team is the enabler we all want but shouldn't need in life. Like he justifies his acts of violence in the outside world, his team has spun a narrative of him being a 'dil ka banda' and 'pookie' to compensate for the damage done by the OG RD.

Shrutika Arjun's social media strategy is mostly run by her husband, Arjun Raaj -- just like her game. He emulates her 'righteous' acts on social media and elsewhere to try show her in a good light -- even if it means throwing her friends under the bus.

Chaahat Pandey's team does the act of portraying the lady in a 'gharelu', innocent light exceptionally well -- just like the client does inside the house.

Sara and Arfeen Khan's team lives under a rock and thinks they are the mastermind.

It's all but a 'game'. The onus is hence on the audience to decide which narrative they should go by. Like master like social media team, didn't we say!?
