Sikandar, the much-awaited Salman Khan-led film is far from reaching Rs 100 crore even after four days of its release. The film has been directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
Besides Salman Khan, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, Kishore, Jatin Sarna and Sanjay Kapoor. The film marks the return of Salman Khan after two long years, but it hasn't been at the box office as his previous films. It fell by 50% on day four, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
On the opening day, the film earned Rs 26 crore, Rs 29 crore on second day. However, it witnessed a drop of about 33% on day three, earning Rs 19.5 crore. On Wednesday, the film earned Rs 9.75 crore with shows being reduced from 8000 to 7000 across India. Sikandar’s current total stands at Rs 84.25 crore.
Sikandar's poor performance has caused a number of theater owners in India to either remove the movie or switch it out for other regional productions. On the day of its release, Sikandar had more than 8,000 performances. On the fourth day, though, there are only about 7000 performances left.
On the other hand, L2: Empuraan film, Malayalam-language action thriller film directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy, have crossed Rs 250 crore globally.
The film stars Mohanlal alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran, Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Andrea Tivadar, Jerome Flynn, Eriq Ebouaney, Kishore, Baiju Santhosh, Sai Kumar, Nandhu, and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
L2: Empuraan was released in theatres on March 27. The film has broken records to become the biggest opening for an Indian film in 2025 with its massive worldwide collection. The film has earned around Rs 165 crore (US $19.4 million) over its first four days.
Despite its worldwide applause, L2: Empuraan continues to stir controversy in India for its content. A few organizations have claimed that the movie's portrayal of the Gujarat riots of 2002 pushed an anti-Hindu agenda.
