Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde’s film dominates advance bookings with 4,500 tickets sold in top chains for day 1

Shahid Kapoor is all set for the release of his much-awaited film Deva. Going by the advance booking of Deva - which was opened on January 29 - it sold approximately 4,500 tickets in the top three national chains including PVR Inox and Cinepolis for the day of the release. The advance booking was slow on Wednesday, and is expected to pick pace on Thursday. The movie is expected to sell about 15,000 to 25,000 tickets for the opening day.

Deva aims at making a strong start

The film featuring Pooja Hegde, Deva is an action thriller which is set against the backdrop of Mumbai. As reported by Pinkvilla, Deva is expected to open within Rs 5 crore to Rs 6 crore net at the Indian box office. But the figures could change as everything depend on multiple factors including spot bookings and walk-ins. The movie will also face stiff competition with Sky Force which continues to do well at the box office.

Deva isn’t Kabir Singh

After the makers unveiled the thrilling trailer of Deva, many were quick ot draw comparisons between the film and Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s Kabir Singh. In a recent pree conference Shahid explained why his character in Deva isn’t similar to Kabir Singh. Shahid Kapoor revealed, “It’s an aggressive character but ‘Deva’ is very Deva, there is no Kabir Singh in it. Deva is also not like any other character… Till ‘Kabir Singh’ people said, ‘Oh! Is he like Tommy Singh in ‘Udta Punjab’?" Shahid also said Deva was special to him. “You’ll find all the answers on January 31st," he said in response to a question on why the film remains unique.

Deva will hit the theatres on January 31, 2025.
