Square Enix has unveiled the opening movie for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, a comprehensive remake of the 2000 PlayStation classic, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. The cinematic trailer highlights the game’s overhauled visuals and orchestral soundtrack, offering a glimpse into the modernized journey of its beloved cast of characters.
This Reimagined edition introduces significant gameplay evolutions, most notably a new “Moonlighting” mechanic that allows characters to equip two vocations simultaneously. The remake also features a dedicated “Monster Master” vocation, a streamlined narrative for a more cohesive experience and various quality-of-life enhancements. This marks the second time the title has been modernized, following the 2013 3DS remake that later reached Western audiences in 2016.
Accompanying the trailer is playable demo for the game, with players’ progress carrying over to the full release. As an added incentive, players who complete the demo will unlock a “Day Off Dress” costume for Maribel. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is set to launch on February 5 for the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Check out the opening movie above.
