Searchlight Pictures has released the official trailer for Wild Horse Nine, the latest film written and directed by Martin McDonagh. The new preview provides a closer look at the dark comedic drama starring John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell as CIA agents facing moral reckoning on the eve of the 1973 Chilean coup.

Following its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival—where Malkovich won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor—and subsequent screenings at Telluride and TIFF, the film centers on longtime partners Chris (Malkovich) and Lee (Rockwell). Dispatched from Santiago to Easter Island by their bureau chief MJ (Steve Buscemi), the duo is forced to confront their past actions while Chris forms a relationship with two rebellious students, played by Mariana Di Girolamo and Ailín Salas.

Framed against the historical shadow of American intervention in South America, Wild Horse Nine expands McDonagh’s signature exploration of fractured male friendship, guilt, and bleak humor. The project reunites the director with composer Carter Burwell, alongside an ensemble cast featuring Tom Waits and Parker Posey, cinematography by Ben Davis, and editing by Mikkel E. G. Nielsen.

Wild Horse Nine opens in theaters on November 6, 2026.
