The first teaser for Christopher Nolan‘s adaptation of The Odyssey is beginning to hit theaters.

The clip, arriving in true Nolan fashion more than a year ahead of the film’s premiere, is being played alongside the release of Jurassic World Rebirth. Variety reports that the teaser is exclusive to theaters and clocks in at about 70 seconds. It begins with a quick shot of Matt Damon as Odysseus, his son Telemachus (Tom Holland) and an unknown character portrayed by Jon Bernthal. A voice similar to that of Robert Pattinson‘s begins to narrate about his dead “master” and king winning an “unwinnable war.”

Plot details such as the Trojan Horse are further teased, followed by dialogue between Telemachus and Bernthal’s character. They discuss how Odysseus’ whereabouts are currently unknown, then hint at the famed “stories” about the Greek king of Ithaca. They go back and forth about the possibilities of where Odysseus could be, landing at the likes of either death or imprisonment. Finally, it’s revealed that the king has found himself stranded in the ocean, holding on to nothing more but scraps of wood. The film title and the release date of “17. 07. 26” end the teaser.

Leaks of the teaser have hit the likes of X and TikTok, but have been struck by copyright claims.

Joining Damon, Holland, Bernthal and Pattinson in the star-studded cast are Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Elliot Page, John Leguizamo, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, Cosmo Jarvis and more. The film adapts Homer’s ancient Greek epic Odyssey, and tells the story of Odysseus’ 10-year journey home where he encounters Sirens, a Cyclops, witch-goddess and more.

Stay tuned for the wide release of the teaser. The Odyssey premieres July 17, 2026.
