Omar Apollo Talks Building a ‘Spin-Ready’ Stage Outfit & Coach Global Ambassadorship

· Rolling Stone

Omar Apollo just finished walking the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards, and now he’s heading into a new role in 2026.

The day after the buzzy red carpet event, Apollo (clad in PJs) spoke to Rolling Stone about his new global ambassadorship with Coach. This marks a major moment for the 28-year-old musician, whose star is steadily rising with projects like the album God Said No in 2024, and a recent role in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer opposite Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey.

In our interview, the “Tamagotchi” singer reflected on his ambassadorship, style inspiration, and the method of his “madness” when it came to dressing for the stage. First came Apollo’s fondness for the brand, remarking on how Coach has been a part of his life since he was a teen, “I’ve always been a fan of Coach since high school. I remember like, you were like the coolest little kid if you had, like, a little Coach bag.” To Apollo’s point, the iconic brand has always been around, but was exceedingly popular in the early to mid-2000s, hence Apollo’s anecdote. “When it comes to being an ambassador, or things like that, it’s the people in the building…how they make you feel. They let you be yourself and represent something authentic, and that’s what really drew me towards wanting to be a part of it,” Apollo explains.

It makes sense that Coach would tap the “Spite” singer for this ambassadorship, given his personal style has always been a fascination for fans. Apollo’s style is hard to pin down, though it’s objectively stellar. The musician plays with color and texture, favoring suited moments for the red carpet and free-flowing button-ups or interesting mesh tees for the stage.

Apollo’s philosophy for getting dressed is a simple one, but one we can get behind full force. “It’s always a pant. I always start with the pant. Shoes last.” The artist builds his outfits around bottoms, checking colors and what he might be doing that day. Very practical.

His looks are a mix of comfort and high fashion with no discernible gender orientation, but rather an androgynous moment that allows him to “spin” on stage. “I’m gonna need a slippery shoe. I need to spin around. They have the one I really like, the lug sole. It’s really cute. Might wear some suede. A button-up, maybe open, and then, like a cute little belt,” says Apollo. Coach’s Lug Sole style is currently marked down to $195 on the brand’s website and comes in black or brown. They’ve also got the Flat Sneaker marked down for $99, a textural suede low-top number with Apollo’s name written all over it that is sure to get you spinning on or off stage. There’s also the Penny Loafer, another suede option for $195 that is both casual and dressy.

“I’ve been trying to make my stage style melt into my everyday. So I kind of dress how I want to look on stage. I feel like before I was putting on sparkly whatever (while performing). I’d have a casual, sparkly situation. I think I’ve just been developing my taste in clothes and getting to know my body and what kind of clothes are really comfortable and whatnot,” says Apollo. The singer also mentioned his love for Coach eyewear, which he wore to the Golden Globes.

Coach’s Rivet Retro Eyeglasses are a style we can see Apollo getting behind, featuring a retro-inspired design and heritage hardware that really make the frames a stand-out. Another pick for Apollo, in the realm of being cozy, is Coach’s PJs. The Restored Pajama Top and accompanying bottoms are printed with the brand’s instantly recognizable horse-drawn carriage motif. With Apollo at the helm of Coach’s global ambassadorship, his tastes are bound to shine through. We’ll likely see the singer step into his role full-force with creativity top of mind, just as he does with his music.
