George Lucas to Tease New Museum at First Comic-Con Appearance
· Rolling StoneGeorge Lucas is set to visit San Diego Comic-Con for the first time this year to tease his new museum, slated to open in Los Angeles in 2026.
As Variety reports, the Star Wars creator will offer attendees a first look at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. He’ll be joined on the panel by director Guillermo del Toro, visual designer Doug Chiang, and moderator Queen Latifah.
Lucas and his wife, the businesswoman Melody Hobson, co-founded the Museum of Narrative Art, which is set to celebrate visual storytelling in all its forms, from painting and comics to photography and film. During the Comic-Con panel, Lucas, del Toro, Chiang, and Queen Latifah will “discuss the power of illustrated stories and the role of narrative art in society,” per a description. “From ancient cave drawings and hieroglyphics to paintings, murals, illustrations, comics, digital media, and sculptures, this panel will delve into the universal language of illustrated storytelling.”
While this is Lucas’ first time at Comic-Con, Star Wars has a long history with the fan event. As David Glanzer, Comic-Con’s chief of communications and strategy, noted in a statement, Star Wars had a Comic-Con booth nearly five decades ago, where the Star Wars poster designed by artist Howard Catkin was on display.
