“Did you see what we just did?” Diaz says back, beckoning her kids into the car.

Back in Action, which arrives on Netflix Jan. 17, follows couple Emily (Diaz) and Matt (Foxx) who went into hiding to lead an idle, crime-free life as new parents. Soon, they are dragged back into the world of espionage. Directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses), the cast includes Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Andrew Scott (Ripley), Jamie Demetriou (Fleabag), Rylan Jackson (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), and Glenn Close.

Diaz and Foxx were previously scene partners in the 2014 musical Annie and the 1999 sports drama Any Given Sunday. The Charlie’s Angels actress ends her decade-long hiatus from Hollywood films and TV shows with her co-starring role in Back in Action.

Foxx released his Netflix comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…in December, which used comedy and song to chronicle a medical condition that left him hospitalized in 2023. In the special, Foxx described a brain bleed that led to a stroke and subsequent surgery. The health scare delayed the production of Back in Action, which was originally expected to release in November.
