Harry Styles Is a Casual Action Hero in the New ‘American Girls’ Music Video
· Rolling StoneHarry Styles plays the action hero — with the help from some stunt doubles — in the new music video for “American Girls.”
Directed by James Mackel, the clip finds Styles spending a day on the set: He embarks on a cross-country motorcycle journey, casually drives a sports car underneath a stalled-out semi truck, runs through a desert landscape peppered with explosives, and completes a massive motorcycle flip against a setting sun.
Of course, a lot of this is completed with the help of green screen technology and two well-trained stunt doubles. For all the action in the “American Girls” clip, there’s a kind of charming mundanity to it as Styles drifts from one scene to the next, eats some snacks with his stunt doubles, and stays continually hydrated.
