‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Warns Against ‘Targeting Cast and Crew’ Ahead of Final Season

The Summer I Turned Pretty will turn the page on its last chapter on July 16 with the premiere of its third and final season. Showrunner Jenny Han created the sun-kissed story of Belly Conklin and brothers Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher more than a decade ago in the book trilogy the series is based on. But the emotions of the finale are still fresh for viewers who haven’t read the books and those who have strong feelings about who Belly ends up with.

In anticipation of the impending discourse, The Summer I Turned Pretty team has issued an anti-bullying, doxxing, and harassment statement on social media.

“Cousins is our safe place. Everything good, everything magical,” a recent post from the official Summer I Turned Pretty account on X reads, referring to the beach town where the majority of the series takes place. “Let’s keep the conversation kind this summer.”

In a second slide, the team behind the series details their “community guidelines” more specifically. “We have a ZERO tolerance policy for bullying and hate speech,” the post says. “If you engage in any of the following you will be banned: Hate speech or bullying; Targeting our cast or crew; Harassing or doxxing members of the community.”

It is unclear how the banning element would be enforced. When asked by a fan to clarify where exactly the community is, the show responded: “All of us talking online about The Summer I Turned Pretty are the community.”

The X account for the Prime Video series boasts more than 108,000 followers. The show has a much larger following on Instagram, where it has amassed 3.1 million followers since February 2021. The anti-harassment statement was shared there as an Instagram Story post.
